Loreto Normanhurst
Case Study
Over in New South Wales, prestigious Sydney girl’s school, Loreto Normanhurst has recently undergone a huge transformation with a new fit-out of the Gonzaga Barry Centre. Woods Furniture played a large role in this spectacular facelift, working with the architect, builder and school to ensure a smooth and seamless experience from start to finish. The school opted to have one colour theme per level of the multi-level building and we facilitated this stylistic choice by providing a mix of standard and custom-made pieces.
This was a large project with many people involved in the decision-making. Woods had to ensure that the stylistic choices made by the school fell within our own minimum guidelines, as well as making sure the colours chosen by the architect were available locally. In fact, we sourced colours from Laminex, which are outside of our standard palette, to accommodate the architectural design. Once all the pieces were chosen and the layouts for each room finalised, the matter of delivery was undertaken. It took three full days for the product to be delivered to each level of the building. We were certainly under the pump to ensure the normal running of the school could continue with minimum disruption.
Given this contemporary, flexible and stylish new fit-out, the Gonzaga Barry Centre is the long awaited centrepiece of the Loreto Normanhurst learning environment. Woods has helped create a custom space for this school that is both durable and exciting to be in. The opening ceremony was befitting of the large-scale revamp undertaken by the project team and was opened by the NSW Governor, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO. More than 1300 dignitaries, officials, staff, and students attended the ceremony, it was a wonderful event to begin the life of these new, dynamic interiors proudly fitted out by Woods.
